A photographic slideshow from the practice round of the 2010 Barclays golf tournament at beautiful Ridgewood Country Club, Paramus, New Jersey. The course dates from the 1920s and was designed by AW Tillinghast. The legendary Byron Nelson worked at Ridgewood as assistant pro in the mid-1930s, in the early days of his professional career. The Barclays (originally the Westchester Classic) rotates among several golf courses in the tri-state region; it was held at Ridgewood in 2008 and 2010. Matt Kuchar (not pictured in these photos), winner of the 2012 Players Championship, won the 2010 tournament. Since 2007, The Barclays has kicked off the FedEx Cup playoffs. In 2010, Jim Furyk, pictured in this slideshow with his caddy “Fluff” Cowan, was tipped as a main contender for The Barclays, but he overslept and missed his tee-time for the pro-am practice round on Wednesday August 25 and was disqualified from the tournament. Nonetheless, he went on to win the 2010 FedEx Cup.
