If you go to any range, you’ll see someone with an alignment tool down, grabbing their 7 iron with a large bucket of balls just randomly hitting into oblivion, ball after ball after ball. There’s two different types of practice. There’s block practice, which is this alignment tool hitting the golf ball at the same target. Then there’s random practice, or situation training, which is a lot more similar to how you’re going to play on the golf course. You’re going to pick a target, go through your routine, visualize your shot and do exactly the shot you would as if you were on the golf course. It’s been proven that situation training and random practice is far more productive in terms of getting results on the golf course. Block practice may give you good confidence, but it doesn’t transfer to the golf course very very well.
